Johammer J1 – The strangest electric motorcycle in the world

Johammer J1 is the first serial electric motorcycle with reach beyond 200 km and it is designed, developed and produced in Austria.

The engine is mounted on the back wheel and the aluminum frame hosts the battery. The suspension is located under the fairing and the direction is a hub-center steering type. The system is not new, but it never became too popular.

The dashboard is hosted by mirrors, mounted in extension of the handlebar (to call it that way). Moreover, viewed form the front, the bike looks like a bug.

The propeller has a power of 11kW (15hp) and the gravity center is very low, which would lead to increased handling.

Production began in March, and this year will be build 50 models. “The production can be increased to 300-500 bikes a year, we could do two per day”, said the CEO company, Johann Hammer Schmid.
