It’s been 40 years since the first Honda Gold Wing hit the market. On that occasion, Honda reveals two anniversary models: GL 1800 Gold Wing and Gold Wing F6B.
Honda Gold Wing F6B receives cruise control and reverse gear plus commemorative emblems and matt bullet silver paint finish. The „Bagger“, as Honda nicknamed its motorcycle, has the same 1.800 cmc horizontally-opposed six cylinder engine which develops 116 hp @5.5500 rpm. Besides the cruise control and the reverse gear, the anniversary Gold Wing will have revised exhaust internals for a Gold Wing F6C power-cruiser style sound and another air injection system which improves performance and ensures lower emissions, according to Honda.
As for the GL 1800 Gold Wing – the classic tourer – it will have four color options (one for each decade, we assume). These is the only news here. As for the other well-known options, it will have an 150 liter storage space, a fully adjustable and heated seat, a SRS 6-speaker 80W audio system, foot-warming system and another similar options which will make you feel like driving a car instead of riding a motorcycle.
Honda Gold Wing – the oldest Honda in the market
There is no other Honda present for so many years in the motorcycle range as Gold Wing. The first touring motorcycle named Gold Wing was presented in 1975. It had a horizontally opposed four-cylinder engine with an 1.000 cc capacity. Then, in 1987, Honda Gold Wing received an 1.500 cc six cylinder engine. The last model debuted in 2001, after eight years of research and development. It has the well-known 1.800 cc opposed six cylinder engine which ensures a low gravity center and a very good handling for such an enormous motorcycle.
Happy birthday, Honda Gold Wing!
