Matchless Model X Reloaded reunites a legendary name, creative technologies and distinctive style. This is the first Matchless motorcycle since the factory closed it’s doors in 1966.
Model X was originally built between 1929 and 1940. It had a 990 cc V-Twin engine and was a kind of „fast sport tourer“. But Matchless passed away in 1966, the British lost the domination over the motorcycle world. Meanwhile, the italian family that bought the brand wants to remove the dust put for so many year over Matchless.
Matchless Model X Reloaded will be presented at the upcoming motorcycle shows, probably in Cologne and Milan. It’s got an S&S 1916 cc V-Twin engine and an exquisite design. Every single element is a travel to the motorcycle history, with a state of art manufacturing and engineering.
Model X Reloaded has got an adjustable seat (740 mm to 800 mm). The handlebar is also adjustable, and the bike has a Castle type fork which resembles the original model. The front tire is 130/90 R16, while the back tire is 200/55 R 17. Matchless Model X is also fitted with double footpegs and controls, which allow the rider to sit in two different position.
The motorcycle should be available in 2015 and the price should be around 30.000 pouds (about 37.500 euros or 48.000$), according to motorcyclenews.com.
Matchless is one of the oldest motorcycle brands in Britain and in the world. It was founded in 1899. Matchless was the legendary bike that won the first Isle of Man TT race in 1907. It was ridden by Charlie Collier. In 1938, Matchless and AJS became part of the giant Associated Motorcycles. Matchless was, in the early 60s replaced with Norton, and the production was ceased in 1966.
Two yeas ago, Matchless was bought by Malenotti family, which owns Belstaff, a luxury clothing brand. And, we’re very glad that Matchless will not be just a clothing collection. Welcome back, Model X!
