Marc Marquez is, once again, the MotoGP World Champion. This time, three races before the season finish.
Even if Jorge Lorenzo won the Montegi battle, Marquez was the star in Japan. The Repsol Honda pilot gets the second MotoGP title, beating the world record achieved by Mike Hailwood în 1963. Hailwood was the youngest pilot to get two world titles in a row. He was 23. Marquez is 21.
There were many expecting this result, so the Japanese staff had prepared a special moment for Marquez. There was a samurai who gave the Spaniard one traditional sword and a golden helmet after the race.
“Just two years in MotoGP with two titles is incredible. Maybe for the people it looks easy because I’m always smiling, but there is a lot of pressure. Misano and Aragon we made some mistakes so it was important to focus here for Honda. I’m really happy with my team and family and fans, they’re all pushing me. It’s like a dream right now,” said Marc Marquez.
„I think that Marc deserves the championship; he won a lot of races and in a lot of conditions. He doesn’t make mistakes and he improved his level so congratulations to Marc,” says Valentino Rossi.
„Marc is the champion, he has been the best all season and he deserves it”, also said Jorge Lorenzo.
As for the Montegi race itself, Marc Marquez had a bad start, bad managed to recover. The high intensity moment was just after the middle of the race when Marc had a fight with Valentino Rossi for the first place. Although „The Doctor“ tried almost everything to stop Marquez, there was nothing to do. Jorge Lorenzo was the absolute leader of the race and Dani Pedrosa came fourth. Andrea Dovizioso managed a fifth place.
There are still three races this season (next one at Philip Island) and it will be a very interesting battle for the second place.
